Hearth and Home - A Geelong Potters Exhibition

The Geelong Potters Group was established in 1976. It seeks to bring aspiring and experienced potters and sculptors together to develop and share in the knowledge and diverse skills, resources, networks, social and wellbeing benefits of working in the medium of clay.

This exhibition comes from active practitioners within the group who seek to elevate their work by placing it in a gallery setting and celebrate those efforts in making artworks accessible to a wider audience. We have toiled away in private and collectively to exhibit this collection of work, jointly curated by Artisans of Australia and Mel Everest.

We love to talk about the resurgence of ceramics. The idea of “pottery” is universally understood. These functional items are intended for everyday use, to be held in the hands, to store, to display and to gift. All are practical and beautiful and largely made for the domestic environment. Hence the title “Hearth and Home”.
