The Raising Bilinguals Roadshow 2027
About your host - Clare Best
Clare Best brings 15 years of professional insight as a Teacher of the Deaf together with the personal insight of a hearing mum raising her own bilingual Deaf child - and she promises to hold nothing back. For years she was the professional in the room with all the strategies. Then by absolute fate was gifted her own Deaf child when her second son was born, and everything she thought she understood got turned on its head. Suddenly she was the parent in the fog, second-guessing every decision and navigating systems that were never built with our kids in mind.
That's what makes her different. She knows what the research says AND what it feels like at 2am when you're questioning everything. Nothing she shares is theory dressed up as help - it's real, proven and honest from start to finish. No frills to be found!
Her focus is language, literacy, access and advocacy - giving parents the tools and confidence to build a strong bilingual foundation at home and stand up for their child in a way that moves the needle. This isn't a lecture, this isn't a theory lesson - it's a warm, casual, anecdote-driven conversation that leaves you feeling connected, capable and clear on your next step.
Parents are front and centre of course, however educators, allied health, extended family and the Deaf community are all welcome to pull up a chair and learn alongside.
Plan it on Keen
Keen is how mates lock in plans: see who’s free, who’s keen, and actually make it happen.
