Talented up-and-coming jazz and contemporary vocalist Jay Stocker is returning to Lazybones this September for a night of original music, fresh arrangements and everything jazz, funk and pop. Now in her second year studying Jazz Voice at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Jay is excited to return to the Lazybones stage, this time sharing her first ever show featuring her own original compositions and arrangements. With a smooth, rich vocal style influenced by greats including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Chet Baker, Jay draws audiences in with her distinctive tone and an emotional honesty that shines through across a diverse range of styles. Jay has become a familiar face across Sydney’s vibrant music scene, collaborating with some of the city’s most talented young musicians and performing at venues throughout Sydney. After selling out three headline shows at Lazybones, she began her tertiary music journey at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she has had the opportunity to learn from some of Australia’s leading jazz musicians. Jay has performed as a backing vocalist at the renowned Qudos Bank Arena for an audience of more than 20,000 people, as well as appearing across Sydney with Sydney Conservatorium big bands as both a lead vocalist and member of the trombone section.
