Workshop Details
In this richly layered workshop, you will create a vintage-inspired fabric and paper book with a timeworn aesthetic. Your book will feature an artful blend of beauitful old linens, delicate laces, antique ledger papers, original ephemera, tarnished tintype images, eco-dyed papers and fabrics. Curated materials include acrylics, handmade watercolours, earth pigment pastels, botanical inks, charcoals, tin, wire, joint compound, and other unique materials.
Techniques Covered
Enjoy discovering Kate's unique creative process and learning her signature techniques, as you explore imperfection, texture, mark making and collage. Explore distressing fabrics, deconstructing, new ways with collage, mark making, rich layers of mixed media, contemporary stitching, creating unique image transfers, antiquing tin with patina, eco-dyeing, wire bookbinding and more.
The experience
This workshop invites you to create and connect with likeminded people while being mentored and guided by Kate Thompson. Enjoy gathering unique pieces that you have collected over the years that were once hidden in drawers. Honour your vintage treasures, from personal mementoes to found objects, by cherishing them in your art book. You will leave with a tattered and torn, timeworn book, filled with details that capture the past and memories of new.
