About

Discover the rich and enduring history of Aboriginal Sydney through Barani Barrabugu – Yesterday Tomorrow, a free exhibition celebrating the cultures, stories and continuing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Sydney.

Drawing on the City of Sydney's Barani resources, the exhibition explores significant places, people and events that have shaped the city. From sites of gathering and community to places of activism and change, it reveals the deep connections that continue to exist between Aboriginal people and Country.

Sydney is the birthplace of the Aboriginal civil rights movement in Australia, where generations of Aboriginal people came together to advocate for equality, self-determination and recognition. Through stories, photographs and historical records, the exhibition honours those who came before us and celebrates a living culture that continues to shape Sydney today.

Visit the exhibition and discover the stories that echo through our city. To explore more Aboriginal Sydney histories, heritage and culture, visit the Sydney Barani website https://www.sydneybarani.com.au/
