About

Mussels Matter: Innovations in Bivalve Science and Conservation

Join us for an engaging evening symposium hosted by the Harry Butler Institute, Murdoch University, on 11 November celebrating the fascinating world of freshwater and the critical roles they play in healthy aquatic ecosystems.

Mussels Matter: Innovations in Bivalve Science and Conservation will showcase cutting-edge research and conservation initiatives led by experts Alan Cottingham, Dulmini Perera, Jake Daviot, Leah Beesley and Michael Klunzinger.

From biodiversity discovery and ecosystem restoration to emerging technologies and conservation strategies, this public event will explore how bivalve science is helping address challenges faced by Western Australia's aquatic ecosystems. Whether you are a student, researcher, environmental professional, or simply curious about the hidden life of our waterways, this symposium offers a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and discover why mussels truly matter.

Mussels Matter is a free evening symposium hosted at Murdoch University, held at the Boola Katitjin Collaborative Learning Space (Room 360.4.031) on the Perth campus.
