In 2022 the State Library and Archives of Tasmania moved more than 14 kilometres of archival items to the Tasmanian Archives Geilston Bay Repository, a state-of-the-art facility that is storing the state’s archives into the future.
Led by State Library and Archives of Tasmania Research Librarian, Anthony Black, this sought-after tour will allow a peek behind the scenes into the preservation of Tasmania’s documentary heritage.

This event is part of National Family History Month at the State Library and Archives of Tasmania.
National Family History Month is a nationwide celebration of the stories, mysteries and secrets that shape who we are. The theme for 2026 is ‘Family as a Community – Together We Can Do So Much More'.
No bags or food are to be taken into on the tour, though secure storage is provided.
Parking is available on the top side of the building, and the entrance is also on that side.
