Born in Osaka and based in Tokyo, Endo is a textile and visual artist whose practice examines the social, political and ecological relationships embedded in everyday life.
Her new site-specific installation was created in response to a series of prophetic dreams experienced while visiting Australia in 2025 and 2026. The work brings together ink paintings on washi paper, ceramics, textiles and video. These elements each draw on ancient myths and iconographies relating to snakes, water and rainbows, alongside legends of dragon deities and ancient Japanese scripts.
Endo’s dream journals appear throughout the installation, and she turns to artificial intelligence to interpret their meaning. In doing so, AI functions as an extension of the unconscious, allowing intuition, memory and imagination to be mediated and transformed.
Through these layered narratives, Endo creates a contemplative space where mythology, landscape and material practice converge.
