ARTIST BIOS:

Born in Melbourne, Adrian McNeil (Sarod) lived, studied and performed in India for many years. He has made a number of recordings for national television and radio. A guitar student since childhood, Adrian began training in Hindustani music in 1980 as a disciple of Pt. Ashok Roy. He has intensively studied the Sarod and Hindustani classical music with Prof. Sachindra Nath Roy and also the expert vocalist and musicologist, Dr. Ashok Ranade. He has extensive performance experience in Australia, Europe and Asia.

Adrian is an adjunct Professor of Music at Monash University, Australia. His extensive writings on Hindustani music includes the book Inventing the Sarod: A Cultural History.

Bikram Malhar is a respected Melbourne based performer and teacher of Hindustani classical music. Uniquely steeped in the musical lineage of two Gharanas (Gwalior and Punjab), Bikram effortlessly brings a powerful rhythmic element in his performances. In addition to a Masters degree, 2 Sangeet Visharads (vocal and Tabla) and a further diploma in music, Bikram has been blessed by a musical heritage that includes legends of Hindustani classical music such as Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, Pandit Omkarnath Thakur and Pandit Vinayak Rao Patvardhan.
