About
Audrey Gibbs joined the Royal Queensland Art Society in 1983 and was recognised as a Fellow of the society in 2009. This exhibition explores genre artworks, one of Audrey’s great pleasures. This exhibition focuses on Genre Artworks, one of Audrey's favourite themes to paint. Genre Artworks are those that depict ordinary people in everyday situations, both in the exterior and the interior. Rather than heroic or mythological subjects, these works celebrate the familiar: everyday people participating in domestic routines, work, leisure, social gatherings, and quiet moments of daily life. The Royal Queensland Art Society is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.
