Bring your brightest smile and festive spirit to this year's Queanbeyan Diwali Mela Lantern Festival. Returning to the Queanbeyan Showground, this free community celebration offers an evening of colour, culture and connection for all ages.
Proudly presented by QPRC and the Queanbeyan Multicultural Centre, this year's event will be bigger and brighter than ever, bringing the whole Queanbeyan community together to celebrate Diwali in a fun, inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere.
One of the evening's most anticipated highlights is the lantern parade. People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join a beautiful procession around part of the showground, carrying lanterns and lights in a shared celebration of hope, unity and light. Everyone is welcome to take part by bringing along their own battery-operated light or lantern.
No lantern? No problem. You can create your own for free at the Southern Tablelands Arts Lantern Making Workshop Space from 5pm on the night, with all materials supplied.
Multicultural NSW, SBS, and Queanbeyan Multicultural Centre proudly support the event alongside Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council.
