Experience Haydn’s Most Dramatic Masterpiece. Written in 1796 as Napoleon’s armies marched on Vienna, Joseph Haydn’s Mass in the Time of War (Paukenmesse) is a powerful blend of political tension and intense emotion. Driven by ominous, battlefield-like drumrolls, it ultimately gives way to hope and triumphant cries for peace.
Written by a 15-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart fresh from Italy, Symphony 14 is a breath of fresh air. This early work swaps traditional oboes for flutes, creating a uniquely luminous, airy, and joyful sound. A perfect bright prelude before the explosive emotion of Haydn’s wartime masterpiece.
Today's performance combines the forces of the East Sydney Chamber and Mosman Syphony Choirs lead by ESCO's Chief Conductor Omid Moheb Zadeh and vocal soloists
