Mallory’s got writer’s block – and she’s had it for seven years. All she wants is to resurrect her literary career, so she does what any sane person would do: she hits up Reddit. Armed with her new knowledge of how to write a bestseller, she meets Leo, a young sex worker and addict, and decides to tell his story ... without telling him. What could go wrong? Crackling with wit and insight, Fruit Fly is a razor-sharp yet compassionate take on the ethics of contemporary publishing. Brisbane Writers Festival is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council. Discover the full 2026 festival program now via the Brisbane Writers Festival website.
