JUICE Sydney: A Photographic Journey Through Identity, Migration and Resilience
Studio 551, Newtown | Vernissage: 24 October 2026, 7:00 pm | Exhibition: 24–25 October
551E King Street, Newtown NSW 2042
Newtown is about to host the Australian chapter of JUICE (Photographic Crown of the Earth), an international black-and-white portrait project by Polish photographer Mickey Wyrozębski. Her aim is to portray people on all seven continents. Sydney is the fifth stop on that journey, following Berlin, New York, Hong Kong and Tanzania.
The face of the exhibition is Jeremy Sochan, the NBA player of Polish and American heritage. He was photographed for the project in the United States and is shown in a deliberately non-sporting light, as a young man shaped by several cultures.
The vernissage will have a distinctly Polish character, with Polish refreshments and a welcoming, community atmosphere. The event takes place under the Honorary Patronage of the Polish Consulate in Sydney, with the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (IAM). Studio 551 is the project’s gallery partner.
