Woodworking Workshop with David Booth

Join cultural educator David Booth for a fully immersive, hands‑on woodwork workshop celebrating First Nations knowledge, craftsmanship, and connection to Country. Throughout the session, David will share the cultural significance of trees and explain how different woods are traditionally selected for making items such as boomerangs and didgeridoos.

Drawing on knowledge gained through many years living and learning in communities across Australia, David also explores how traditional techniques, forms, and design principles continue to influence contemporary making, sustainable practices, and modern technologies today. This rich and engaging workshop allows children to create something of their own to take home, while gaining a deeper understanding of how ancient knowledge continues to shape design, innovation, and everyday life.

This session forms part of the 'All In' Reconciliation Science School Holiday Program and is designed for participants aged 10 + years. Parental or guardian supervision is required for all children under 12 years of age.
