About Benny Rowdy Quartet
Led by 20-year-old saxophonist and flutist Ben Rowney, the Benny Rowdy Quartet is a Newcastle jazz outfit known for its genre-spanning sound — moving fluidly between swing, modern jazz, bossa nova and funk. The group grew out of the region's jam session scene and are regulars on the local circuit, performing at venues like Lola's on Darby Street and through the Newcastle Improvised Music Association. It's a sound born out of playing together, not performing for a crowd — loose, responsive, and built for a room to move with them.
