‘A is for Air, B is for Belonging, C is for Community… 𝗚 is for 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵.’
In Green Square, you cannot avoid the A–Z of Living Wellness. Plastered on construction fencing that encases the area, it perches on the edge of each neighbourhood stroll, commute and grocery shop. The Alphabet is a collaboration between property developers Mirvac and Landcom (a NSW state government corporation).Together, they promise a locality where one can ‘thrive in pure living luxury’. Alongside architectural renders, delicate drawings of place and brass-accented interiors, the A–Z of Living Wellness models a visual culture of urban development and renewal, which circulates within economies of speculation, investment, and placemaking.
G is for Growth is a show about the promises made by this visual culture and the grit unveiled by its materialisation. The creative practitioners involved in this exhibition together critique, satirise and counter-render the dominating vision of ‘Growth’ and who it is for.
