About

This massive installation names 18,457 of the approximately 22,000 children killed in Gaza from October 2023 to now. Hosted by Amnesty International Australia (Pennant Hills) and the Pitt St Uniting Church, it is on exhibition at the Church, 264 Pitt St Sydney, daily until 28 October 2026.

The Wall of Tears was created by US artist Phil Buehler, and first unveiled in Brooklyn in January this year. It was brought to Australia in July 2026 by Perth Doctors Medical Aid for Palestine.

Phil Buehler said of his work that he hopes people will “see the faces, read the stories of some of the few dozen I’ve scattered throughout ... that’s the part that gets me when I look at it.

You see their faces full of joy and hope, snapshots from graduations and birthday parties and family gatherings and knowing that these kids’ lives were just cut short ... I hope that might lead people to think about how they might help, even if its just, take a photo of the mural and pass it along on their social media or to their friends.”
