Spring has sprung! - Ubuntu events present to you the Uncool Angels are a fast-rising South African all-female DJ and dance duo made up of Lady Nnanas and Consent—and despite the name, their sound is seriously cool. Blending Afro House, Afro Tech and 3-Step, they serve big beats, bold moves and enough crowd energy to lift the roof. Their story first found its rhythm in Rosebank, the buzzing heart of Johannesburg nightlife, where they worked as professional club dancers. In 2023, fellow artist Uncool Mcee, also known as Uncle MC, spotted their talent and mic confidence and gave their journey a name: “Uncool Angels”. They loved it, claimed it and danced straight from the background into the spotlight as DJs and performing artists. Since then, they have turned the volume up on their ambitions—diving into music production and live mixing, building a loyal Instagram following and scoring appearances on major South African platforms such as METRO FM. Their catalogue keeps the beat moving with collaborative Afro House and commercial singles on leading streaming services, including Apple Music and Spotify. Breaking through in a male-dominated industry has not always been a smooth mix, and they have spoken openly about the barriers they faced early on. Today, they remix the rules and fly the flag for female empowerment in South Africa’s dance and electronic music scene.
