An Evening of Close-Up Magic at CRAM

Close-up magic is different when there's no screen between you and it. Nothing is edited, nothing is filmed, and you're sitting close enough to watch every move. Which makes it all the harder to explain what you just saw.

That's the show: an hour of live magic at CRAM in Fremantle, performed a few feet from where you're sitting. It's made with adults in mind but works just as well for families with kids aged 10 and up.

What to expect

Most of it happens in your hands, or someone's next to you: a shuffled deck, an ordinary object that stops behaving the way it should. There's astonishment, a fair bit of laughing, and usually a moment or two where the whole room turns to check that everyone else saw it too.

You'll be part of it rather than just watching. If you end up helping out, it's friendly and it's never at your expense, so there's no need to avoid the front row.

Some nights, another magician or two joins to share the stage.

About Dominic Miles

Dominic has been hooked on magic since he was five. That early obsession turned into a lifelong pursuit of sleight of hand, performance, and the connection that happens between a magician and the people watching. He's performed at Perth Fringe and taken his magic to audiences around the world.

About CRAM

CRAM is a new performing arts venue at the Fremantle Piazza. It's a small, intimate space, which is exactly what close-up magic wants: you can see everything, and the whole room shares the same moment at…
