The Regatta has always celebrated a wide range of watercraft and, from its earliest days, included events for watermen in their rowing skiffs, small and big boat yachts, and novelty events. Always held on the last Sunday in October, the Regatta features races starting between the Balmain Sailing Club and Cockatoo Island and an onshore community party with band, bar, and barbecue. It remains true to its origins and is now Sydney's last suburban regatta.
The Work Boat Convoy is a colourful and unique parade of workboats crossing the start line and running a course on the harbour before returning to Balmain Sailing Club. Steam Launch Lady Hopetoun & Steam Tug Waratah will both participate this year.
There will be many beautiful work boats bringing us back to yesteryear of Sydney's working harbour.
